This Started With One Tutor, One Website, and One Real Result

Tech for Tutors is a small, founder-led business built from one real project: helping my wife create a website that made it easier for the right families to trust her and get in touch.

My story

Hi, I'm Derek Singer

I didn't start Tech for Tutors because I wanted to run a general agency. I started it because I saw first-hand how difficult it was for a good tutor to build a strong online presence without letting the website become a second job.

My wife is an excellent maths tutor, but like many tutors, she didn't want to spend evenings wrestling with websites, tools, and marketing systems. So I stepped in and built a better setup around her business.

That meant a clearer message, a more professional website, and a simpler route from first impression to enquiry. That founding project became Mrs J Maths Tutor. In the following academic year, she was fully booked by the end of August.

That experience shaped the whole business. Most tutors don't need a complicated marketing machine. They need a website that helps the right families understand what makes them a good fit, trust them more quickly, and feel ready to get in touch.

"You do the tutoring.
I do the tech."

That's not just a tagline. It's the entire point.

What a great website actually does

"In the academic year following the website going live, I was fully booked by the end of August."

What makes this different

Why This Approach Fits Tutors

Built around one niche

I focus on one niche, which means I understand the questions parents ask, the trust signals tutors need, and what a website has to do to help the right families choose them.

Honest about what's realistic

A website won't fix everything on its own. But it can make a real difference when it helps the right families trust you and take the next step more confidently.

Practical, not bloated

Most tutors don't need a huge marketing machine. They need the right essentials done properly: credibility, clarity, follow-up, and an easy next step.

Working together

What it's like to work with me

You work directly with me from first conversation to launch. There are no handoffs, no jargon, and no being left to figure things out alone. I guide the process, build everything, and explain the important decisions in plain English so you always know what's happening and why.

Is this the right fit?

Who this is usually right for

This is usually the right fit for solo tutors who already have students but whose online presence doesn't reflect the quality of their work. You're not looking to become a marketing expert. You want something done properly so you can stop thinking about it, and you'd rather pay once for a solid setup than keep tinkering with something that isn't working.

What I believe

Clarity

Plain English at every stage. No jargon, no mystery. You always know what's happening and why.

Honesty

If something won't work, I'll tell you. If there's a simpler option, I'll suggest it. You get my genuine advice, not a sales pitch.

Results

A beautiful website isn't the goal on its own. The goal is a website that helps the right families understand your value, trust your tutoring, and feel ready to enquire.
